Animal Shelter Sponsorship & Assistance Programs

The Oceana County Animal Shelter depends on adoption fees and the generosity of friends and supporters in order to cover our operating expenses. We have several programs through which you may donate money or materials to help us continue to develop and maintain a safe and healthy environment for our animals.
Animal Shelter Expansion Project
Our current animal shelter facility is woefully deficient in both space and design to accomodate all the animals that we care for on a regular basis. Plans are already in the works for either expanding our current facility or constructing a new shelter in another location (more details on our About Us page). Of course, the determining factor for either option is adequate funding.
You can help us provide a better envrionment for our animals by donating funds to be used for the expansion of the shelter. All your donations are tax deductible and will go a long way toward providing a safe and comforatble transition place for lost and abandoned pets.
We have provided a convenient way for you to donate funds online through our Paypal account. Just click the "Make a Donation" button to the right and follow the directions that follow. You do not need to have a Paypal account in order to make a donation through Paypal.

Sponsor a Kennel (Business Sponsorship)
As part of, and in addition to, our Expansion Program, we are encouraging businesses, as well as individuals, to become a Kennel Sponsor. For $800 per year, your company will help to defray the costs of providing a safe temporary home for lost or stray dogs. Each Kennel Sponsor will also have a plaque with your name displayed at the shelter, signifying your support for the safety and welfare of the needy animals we care for.

Spay/Neuter Sponsorship
We are currently developing a program in cooperation with area veterinarians through which the costs for spaying or neutering an animal can be covered or reduced for the adopting family or individual. A certificate would be issued that the adopting party could present to the participating veterinarian at the time of service for the adopted animal. Infrastructure for this program is still under development. More information will be provided here when the program is finalized and activated.
Donate-a-Bed
If you would like to help make our animals more comfortable during their stay at the shelter, consider our Donate-a-Bed Program. Kuranda Dog beds provide a comfortable place for our dogs to rest, but we do not have enough for everyone. The Kuranda Dog beds are built to withstand years of daily use with removable components to maintain a clean and sanitary environment. manufacturers have made these beds available at wholesale prices for those who wish to donate one or more to our shelter. Other Donations or Volunteer Work
Aside form the programs above, we are always in need of bedding materials (old towels, sheets, clothing, etc), dry dog and cat food, toys, and other materials on a regular basis. If you would like to donate pet-related items, or even volunteer to walk or care for our animals, please contact us for more information.
